About Us

BHT was originally founded by Horace Drever in 1939 in Philadelphia. He expanded his Company’s commercial heat treating organization into the Baltimore area in 1965. The current Vice President General Manager Subrata Kumar is a degreed Metallurgical Engineer who has been with the Company for over 30 years. In April of 2002 Mr. Kumar and other individuals purchased this operation from the Drever Company. Drever decided to focus specifically on the design and manufacturing of heat treating furnaces for the worldwide steel industry and to no longer participate in the commercial heat treating industry.

The Company is approved for heat treating specifications by the Department of Defense and NASA’s quality system as well as many other individual companies as a result of its quality of work and quality control procedures.

BHT also serves various machine shops in production of gears, forging shops, foundries, stampings, bearings, fasteners and various items for the horse racing industry.

The Company is a member of the Metal Treating Institute (MTI) an industry trade organization. It has been a member for over 30 years. It is also a member of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Heat Treating Network (HTN).
